Today sees the announcement of the 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards, awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA). A full list of nominees can be found here.

I'm quite pleased to see Black Panther get a nod for Best Picture (Drama). Whether this will be an ongoing trend, I don't know, but it's good to see a major awards body recognise a 'genre' film in a main category. At first look, it seems a bit odd that Bohemian Rhapsody is a Drama rather than a Musical/Comedy, but I guess I can see why (the music, whilst integral, isn't the main device on how the story is told).

Vice leads the field with six nominations, with The Favourite, Green Book, and A Star Is Born all on five.

The Golden Globes will be handed out on 6th January 2019, in a ceremony hosted by Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg. Congratulations to all nominees!

The next Awards Season post will be on Monday (10th December) when the Critics' Choice Awards nominations are announced.
